Retention of My Identity Documents

Your documents are kept only for the time required to complete the identity verification process and are then automatically deleted.

Adult identity documents are retained for a few days, while a child’s identity documents are kept for a slightly longer period.

Once this retention period has elapsed, the document images are permanently deleted. The result of your verification (for example, Approved) remains on file, but the images themselves are no longer stored.

This retention policy is designed to protect your personal information and ensure the privacy of your identity documents.

Document images and verification status

The image of an identity document and the result of an identity check are different pieces of information. As explained above, the document images are retained temporarily for verification and are then deleted. The verification result can remain in your profile after those images are no longer stored. An approved status therefore does not mean that the original document image is being kept permanently. The retention period for a child’s document is described separately from the period for an adult’s document; this article does not provide an exact deletion date for an individual submission.
