Register as a Mystery Shopper: Step-by-Step Guide
This illustrated guide explains how to register as a mystery shopper in Canada with Lanla. You will learn how to:
- create your account on the portal or in the app;
- provide the required information and complete your profile;
- prepare for your first mission.
Before you begin, review the registration requirements and information you will need, including the minimum age.
What is mystery shopping?
Mystery shopping is a way to evaluate the customer experience. Mystery shoppers follow a specific scenario, observe their experience and report their findings in a questionnaire. A mission is sometimes called a “mystery shop.” Lanla is a mystery shopping company that connects participants with these market research activities.
1. Access the Lanla portal or app
Download the Lanla mobile application on Android Google Play or Apple’s App Store or access the Lanla portal.
2. Create your mystery shopper account
From the landing page:
- Click on “Sign Up“
- Read and accept the terms and conditions
- Fill in the required fields
- Enter your email address
- Select a password
- Re-enter your password
- Click on “Continue”
3. Complete your profile
Welcome to our mystery shopper community! Next, complete the information in your profile.
When you select your first mission, five pop-up bubbles will be displayed for you to enter additional information on your profile. The goal for this information is to complete your profile for us to offer you missions fitting with your profile and to target missions within your interests (example, some missions require a minimum age to participate).

Understand your participation in market research
If you decide to register as a mystery shopper on the Lanla platform, you acknowledge that mystery shoppers are real consumers and are in no way considered employees of Lanla. As such, you act exclusively as participants in market research studies, and your participation is entirely voluntary. Lanla offers you various activities (surveys, mystery shopping missions, etc.) with no obligation to complete them. Any compensation offered in exchange for these activities does not constitute a salary but rather a reimbursement, as the efforts required do not correspond to compensation based on the minimum wage in effect in Canada.
